W8LRC Memorandum of Emergency Use
Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Agencies
The Lowell Amateur Radio Club (LARC), Amateur Radio License W8LRC,
sponsor/owner of a regional Amateur Radio repeater system on the
frequency of 145.270 MHz- (ctcss 94.8Hz), is dedicated to helping the
community during emergencies by allowing priority use of our repeater
for communications aid. We are willing to assist Public Safety or
Served agencies with use of the W8LRC repeater system whenever the
agency deems it appropriate. These agencies include, but are not
limited to, RACES, ARES, The American Red Cross, Salvation Army/SATERN,
SAR and SKYWARN. Our community, and the lives therein, are invaluable.
Emergency communications always take priority in the amateur radio
service, to LARC, and the W8LRC repeater.
**** In the event of an emergency, you are authorized to take control
of the repeater as soon as needed. Please email the club officers at
officers@w8lrc.org at earliest convenience so that we can inform the
membership to stay clear of the frequency until further notice and
identify as the entity using the repeater both on the air and in the
email. If the repeater is in use, please use proper etiquette to ask
the users to move to a different frequency, state what entity you are,
and the nature of the emergency. If multiple entities need the repeater
for emergencies, please use proper etiquette and help to coordinate
with each other as much as possible. ****
